A recent letter ("Article Inappropriate for Course") appeared in your April 12 issue. Before the letter ran, I had already canceled the assignment and sent an apology to all of the history faculty and graduate students. I now extend my sincerest apologies to the entire Southern Illinois University community.
I deal with controversial issues to make history "come alive" for students. The "Zebra Killings" is a subject worth examining. In this case, however, I chose an inappropriate source, and for that I apologize.
