DE can't take a joke
DEAR EDITOR:
What's wrong with the world when an insignificant college prank, not even a prank but a joke, gets an overwhelming amount of coverage in the news?
Nate Brown taking a small stack of DAILY EGYPTIANs is not a large enough story that it requires both an article and an editorial. I seriously doubt that anyone wanting a paper was kept from obtaining one, seeing as how you can't go more than three feet in this town with out seeing a DE.
Secondly, he put the papers under a couch cushion. He didn't try to permanently suppress the information by throwing them away, burning them or stealing them. The information was not destroyed.
Politicians taking stacks of news papers have long been a joke. It's the politician not trying to cover up what he has done but light heartedly admitting, "Yeah, I screwed up."
Was this an immature act? Yes. But this is the time of our lives when we are supposed to act immature, have a good time and not take things as seriously as we sometimes do.
