USG president: 'I did as promised'
DEAR EDITOR:
Regarding the voter registration crisis, I would like to say the following:
The unfortunate misunderstanding of the yellow official registration forms and the "Motor Voter" copies was a grave disaster.
It is the responsibility of the individual deputy registrar to explain the difference between the two while he or she distributes them. Obviously, this was not done adequately across the campus. When I was given "Motor Voter" forms, I did as promised; I turned them in with my collection of the official registration forms that I was responsible for.
All forms that were distributed by the Undergraduate Student Government were turned in by the deadline and accepted. I'm sure that all of those involved are very sorry for the deception and lack of trust this has caused. This will not be forgotten. Anyone with further concerns may contact me at tequiahicks@hotmail.com.
Tequia M. Hicks
president, Undergraduate Student Government
