Dirty tricks or healthy activism?

As someone who participated in supporting President Bush in St. Louis and the events at the America's Center afterward, I would like to respond to Mr. David Torrence's letter printed Oct. 14.

I have one question; did you watch the Republican National Convention, sir? Did you see those masses of rabid protestors? Did you see those people who disrespectfully barged in during both the Vice President and the President of the United States' speeches? What exactly do you call that, Mr. Torrence? I suppose you can find some way to justify it, can't you? Do your remember seeing a large crowd of pro-life advocates, NRA volunteers, and Republicans outside of the DNC? I don't.

What we as the College Republicans did at the Kerry rally after the debate can only be called fair play in a political environment such as this.

The left has utilized obnoxious tactics to call attention to their agendas for years, and they still are. Look at the peace protestors that smear blood all over themselves and lay on a sidewalk while ordinary people are just trying to go to work. Look at Michael Moore pointing a camera at his fat self and going to harass some 6.50/hr. security guard or an elderly man with Alzheimer's disease (Charlton Heston sound familiar?).

Don't get me wrong; the people I've mentioned above certainly have the right to do this. But guess what? So do we. You guys call this stuff activism.

Now so will we, and I will not allow you to label our form of activism as "shenanigans."
