College Republicans conduct at debate 'ungentlemanly'
DEAR EDITOR:
I am pleased to see DAILY EGYPTIAN journalist Jane Huh taking seriously the role of a free press. Your paper has been guilty of some outrageous omissions and third-rate work in the past, but when I see an article like yours, it gives me hope that SIUC is still turning out some professionals who will be a credit to the field.
The level of the shenanigans is truly repulsive, and for me confirms the mean-spirited dirty-tricks approach to democracy that has characterized young Republicans for years. I feel sorry for Jason Jording, and I hope he gets clean by rejecting the go-along herd mentality that was imposed on him by the sorry, ethically challenged Teresi.
I would hope this story is picked up by the national media, or at least the college press, because the more people who hear about it, the safer our democracy will be. There is no doubt a high place waiting for Teresi in the Bush White House, which thrives on this kind of cynical, ungentlemanly conduct.
Thanks again for upholding the proper standards of journalism in a free society.
