Praise for students, DE and Pulliam Clock
DEAR EDITOR:
A letter of praise for the Pulliam Clock - that seemed to be keeping time good, but the chimes were always behind in striking the hour, etc. over the past few weeks. With a little encouragement from an outsider the clocks and chimes were once again in correlation with each other. I am quite pleased over this and hope that through campus involvement we might keep this a lasting and dependable symbol of our campus.
For all the new faces on campus - because if it weren't for you all, the campus would be hurting for ideas and thoughts you all bring to the campus from your various backgrounds.
Sure, campus life expects a lot from you, but look how much campus life is teaching you academically, physically and socially. It is your fault if you don't wish to partake in classes, go out for a physical pursuit or mix socially with other students.
Trust me, those who gain are those who excel.
For those who stand bravely - meaning the guys and gals who put the Daily Egyptian together each night - and print the pages that you read. To some this may seem easy, but to others it is a chore.
Basically it is the putting together of a newspaper from the beginning to the end. This task requires much dedication and sometimes long hours. In order to accomplish this each night a team is formed where each member is responsible for an article. This works great until something happens to one of the team members.
Such a thing happened to two members of the Egyptian team, but the other team members took over and produced the Monday Egyptian. I just happened to be in the newsroom Sunday night when I was told of the mishap of the two team members. I also observed how the others were hurrying around to get Monday's edition out.
I was very proud of the team despite the news of their teammates. As it turns out both teammates were back Monday working on the Tuesday edition.
The staff and the team members involved need a lot of praise especially those involved will need extra attention in the days to come.
