Questions need to be answered

Dear Editor:

In his letter to the editor, Mr. Reeg mentioned that no one has the right to judge the Pikes for the death of their brother. I respectfully disagree. I'm not accusing anyone, but there are questions that still need to be answered.

There is an investigation going on and the proper authorities must do the judging. Those of us who mourn Brent's passing just want all the facts in order for the healing to begin. I said "us" because I recognize that his family and the communities of Mahomet and Seymour are not the only ones mourning. No doubt all his friends at SIUC are grieving. I'm also certain that the young men of the Pi Kappa Alpha house ache because of this tragedy. Even people that didn't have the privilege of knowing Brent are shocked and saddened by his death.

Mr. Reeg needs to recognize that although accidents do happen, it would be wrong for any of us to look the other way and just accept this loss. The questions are not about finding someone to blame, as long as there isn't anyone to blame.
