DE's Standards Lowered
Dear Editor:
For a while now I≠ve watched J. Tierney and J. Stoncius duke it out in the comics section of the DE, and both their attitudes are appalling. The strip-sized arguments seem to constitute the lifespan of their points and accusations, as well as the maturity of such. I≠ve seen this happen once before in the DE comics, and it fared no better for either party, other than to make them look unprofessional, pubescent and, quite frankly, stupid.
For Stoncius, I would like to say that S&J is a great comic with a very apt style for strips, with humor that is perfect for three frames. However, I would suggest you stick with humor. Arguing with others doesn≠t seem to be your strong suit, and being funny suits you more, I think. Don≠t rise to the temptation to pursue such childish bickering. Also, I believe I will be entering next year≠s Rickert-Ziebold contest as well, so I wish you the best of luck and hope to see you there.
As for Mr. Tierney, I would like to congratulate you on winning the Rickert-Ziebold award. Need I remind you, however, that you won with three other fantastic artists? The competition is over and done, so move on. Your sarcasm is tired, your irony too blatant to be clever, and your wit is, well, witless. As an art student, I know it≠s nice to have your ego stroked, but I also know that there is a line that one shouldn≠t cross.
Please have some humility.
So stop, the both of you. You are lowering the standards and reputation of the DAILY EGYPTIAN and are generally making complete fools of yourselves. I≠m glad you both aren≠t primates like in Tierney≠s strip; I can≠t imagine how messy the DE≠s offices would be from all the flung excrement.
