Annual 5K and Nutrition Fair to begin at Evergreen Park
In co-ordinance with National Nutrition Month, the Neighborhood Co-op Grocery and the Southern Illinois Dietetic Association will present the sixth-annual 5K run/walk and Kid K at 9 a.m. Saturday. Registration and packet pick-up begins at 7:45 a.m., and Cathy Turner and Great Shapes Fitness for Women will lead a warm-up at 8:45 a.m.
The course begins at Evergreen Park in Carbondale and loops around the SIUC Campus Lake and Woods. A $15 registration fee is required the day of the race. The Neighborhood Co-op Grocery‚s from-scratch bread will be awarded to the top three runners and top walker in each age group; massages will be awarded to the overall female and male winners and ribbons to all Kid K finishers.
Proceeds will benefit both SIDA scholarship program and the Good Samaritan Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen.
