Documentary on extending interstate to be presented Tuesday

Karyn Moskowitz will be presenting her documentary, "Change is inevitable, highways are not," at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Student Center Ballroom B.

The free documentary summarizes the damage unwanted highway development can do to local economies, particularly the movement to extend Interstate 66 through the Cache River Wetlands. If the road were built, the wetlands, which are home to seven federally listed and 104 state-listed endangered or threatened species, would be permanently ruined. The wetlands are also working in conjunction with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and other nature organizations and businesses.
