American Association of University Women scholarship opportunity
The Carbondale Branch of AAUW is offering four educational scholarships to be awarded during the school year beginning June 1. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to women currently enrolled at SIUC who are continuing their education in the graduate school or a program of professional education in law or medicine. The Joyce A. Kelly Memorial Scholarship is reserved for non-traditional SIUC graduate students. The Lelia Marvin Award Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student transferring to SIUC from John A. Logan College.
Applicants must submit a letter that includes information on their current and planned enrollment status, major, scholastic and other achievements, financial status relating to attending school and a statement of professional goals. A current résumé is highly recommended. The letter should be addressed to Dr. Beverly Stitt, AAUW Carbondale Scholarship Committee, Women's Studies Program, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL 62901-6518. Application deadline is Feb. 27. Winners will be announced at a
"Celebrate Women" benefit on March 17.
