The Daily Egyptian is published by the students of SIU at Carbondale. Except during vacations and exam weeks, The Daily Egyptian is published Monday through Friday during the fall and spring semesters and TWThF during the summer semester."

Changing our Voices

This semester we are trying new things at the Daily Egyptian that we hope you all will enjoy.

Not only are we changing the design of the Voices pages, we have also made a few changes within the structure of the Editorial Board. As you can see on page 7, we have new faces ? as well as some old ones ? who will be serving as board members.

The board consists of five general members, as well as the managing editor and Editor-in-Chief of the paper.

Along with new board members, we will be bringing you not only international columnists, but also more national and international news within our pages. All editorial topics come from within the Carbondale community, but we will not be afraid to discuss national issues that affect us as well.

Information within the pages of the Daily Egyptian is factual. We do not take a story and/or editorial and spin the information to favor one side. All stories are written after attempts to contact each party is made. Whether they choose to speak or not is solely up to them.

Aside from editorials and columnists? opinions, we will continue to provide open space for anyone and everyone to express their views on whatever topic they choose. Guest columns must not exceed 500 words. Please keep in mind all guest columns must be typewritten and sent to voices@dailyeyptian.com. However, entries will still be accepted via U.S. mail and in the Daily Egyptian office.

Letters will be accepted in the same manner as guest columns, but are limited to 300 words.

We will also be keeping the community forum, which will run every other Friday to ensure the views of community members and leaders a place within our pages.

Kenningsoloy will also return this semester for those who would like to keep up with the progress of Kodee Kennings, the 8-year-old daughter of a soldier stationed in Iraq.
