Why liberals are angry

DEAR EDITOR:

Like many people I have been sitting in the cafeteria, dorm, or even classroom and reading the rash of liberal extremism that has been plastered all over the DE. I must admit a lot of it is very entertaining (I seem to be the only one who enjoyed "Bush Won: Time to Leave the Country," [pg. 6]). I don't claim to be superior to the author of this article; I can go on a liberal rant just as well as any of them. However, this doesn't let the right side of the spectrum know what we are angry about.

John White (a good friend of mine) wrote Bush critics display post-election hysterics [Nov. 9, pg. 6] and brought up very valid points.

Why not let the right know why we are so angry? All we have written is what we are going to do about it. So for all you conservatives out there... this is why your local recreation major or canoe instructor is crying.

I think the number one reason why we were so flabbergasted by the election results is that Middle America voted this guy in. Middle America? The working class and the working poor? Oh yeah. They voted a man in who has given huge tax cuts to the upper 10 percent.

A group of people who usually manage and fire said working class employees.

Which brings me to my next point: Jobs. Under the Bush administration, hundreds of thousands of jobs have been lost. So tell me, how many people are living unemployed with a family due to these losses?

These things scare a college graduate more than the moldy pieces of pizza you have stuck to the wall after that party the other night. For a student looking for their fist job in a job market that hit a low that was only rivaled by the Great Depression, it almost seems like a bad dream.

That doesn't even compare to the bad dream we call the war in Iraq. We went to war with a country that has never attacked America, or even has the means to. I promise when President (I can finally call him that) Bush is remembered, he will be the president who set the precedent of pre-emptive war. Now we don't even need a reason to decimate a country.

Finally, to all the liberals planning on leaving: Don't. John, you can keep your Mapquest directions, it is up to us to let the president know that we are not happy with him. We need to put on demonstrations and let our voices be heard. Yes, it is frustrating to see a president elected for his religion but we must be respectful. However, we will by no means be quiet. It is up to us.
