An article I found racist

Dear Editor:

I am a regular reader of the Daily Egyptian and have found it a good read, even when I don't agree with what is printed. Although some of what is printed is controversial, rarely is it inappropriate or offensive. This was not the case with guest columnist Saleem Rasheed's piece on racism and sexism. I found it to be blatantly generalizing, judgmental and stereotypical, if not racist. Rasheed undeniably has a right to his opinion that racism is enforced and perpetuated through monotheistic religions, even if I disagree with it (the foundation of most religious teaching is equality under God and oneness). What offends me most is the overlying theme that all white males are either bigoted or ethnocentric. I am a white male Christian who grew up without a lot of money and will be one of the first in the family to get a degree. Quoting the piece, "the least educated and poorest white male will subconsciously think he is superior to ... women or people of color," or egocentric "white males look at the figure (GOD)...and tend to readily identify with the image." Without even having met me, the author has judged me a weak-minded racist.
