Scott Cyr

Scott Cyr is an information systems major from Effingham, Ill, a place any SIU student who drives up and down I-57 is familiar with.

"That cross scares the hell out of me," Scott said referring to the highly visible Effingham monument. "It's just too big."

He may be frightened of the cross, but Scott doesn't have time to gaze at oversized crucifixes. He has his eyes focused on the horizon.

Scott, who considers himself a focused dreamer, is driven to be successful, but isn't afraid to use his imagination in the name of fun. That's why he has his feet on the ground and his head in the clouds.

Scott's goals in life include becoming well off - not necessarily rich, but comfortable. "I would also like to have a family down the line," Scott said. "Way down the line."

This free bird doesn't have any affiliations with organizations or clubs in school, so he considers himself a very independent guy.

For fun, Scott likes to "drink of course." His favorite hangouts are Callahan's, the Pinch Penny Pub and Sidetracks. But Scott is usually wherever the party is.

The Effingham native listens to all types of music, but the part-time pizza pie deliverer definitely has his favorite genre.

"I'm big into underground hip-hop," Scott said. "Although I admire musicians like Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix because they lived full lives in short time spans."

Scott also respects women who approach him and strike up conversations. After talking, he can usually figure out the situation depending on how much the woman is flirting with him.

"I'm a big fan of flirtation," Scott said. "The kind of 'make you blush' flirting." Like most Saluki singles, Scott is turned off by arrogance.

"I don't like girls who act like they're the sh!t and have short attention spans," he said.

What Scott does like are women who are real, down to earth, decisive about what they want and honest - at least most of the time. He hopes he can start a semi-serious relationship that is carefree.

"I need to be able to go out and party with the fellas a couple of nights a week," Scott said.
