I'm going off the rails
Please Kill Me
Jared DuBach
I never thought that I'd ever have to do this. He was my saving grace and patron saint through some of the hardest times in my life - puberty. Although he became an integral part of my life and still is in some ways to this day, I must perform the difficult and painful task of bringing his wife down. Sharon Osbourne must go!
In the seventh grade, I was introduced to the music of Black Sabbath. I was riding in the car with my parents, and the radio was appropriately tuned to the local classic rock station in Champaign-Urbana. Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" came blaring out of the speakers, and I almost immediately was transfixed. The song and the band represented the exact opposite of everything else being played on classic rock.
There was no talk of peaceful protest against the establishment or of people falling head-over-heels in love and living happily ever after. Black Sabbath was about reality and dealing with the world we live in. Something about it stuck with me and has to this very day. As I matured, I explored other styles and genres of music, not just rock 'n' roll, but I always maintained a firm grasp on Ozzy.
It makes sense that a person who spent most of his life trying to destroy himself might be slow in both movement and thought. But the fact that he is still doing anything is a miracle and, that he goes on the massive tours that he does is an even greater accomplishment.
That's why I'm baffled by why his wife, Sharon Osbourne, would want to take advantage of his good nature and talent when it's obvious that he can't do things like he used to in the good old days. Doesn't she realize that keeping him at a racehorse's pace can kill him quicker than the damage done by the drugs?
When I see an episode of "The Osbournes," I see a loving father who's willing to do whatever it takes to make his family happy. What's sad is to see how his children and wife continually take advantage of his gold card and his talent to make them more and more money. I don't see Ozzy shopping at Cartier or Gucci. It's Sharon and Kelly who load the SUV full of crap that they'll probably never even take out of the box.
Ozzy could have very easily retired five years ago and have been left with a fairly hefty fortune, but with two or more giant holes in the money pail, it's hard to not continue working. I see two little hearts in Ozzy's eyes when he looks at his wife and children. But when I look at Sharon eyes, all I see are two big, fat green dollar signs pulsating with every new scheme she conjures up to generate more cash at the expense of her withering husband.
Someone once commented to me that she must really love him to bear him three children. I say that it doesn't take love to make a baby. Anyone can do it. However, I believe it does take love to put up with a lot of the crap Sharon has pulled. May God have mercy on her soul.
