This Valentine's Day, somewhere in between the flowers and a candlelight
dinner, lovers can experience some romantic entertainment.
Renowned pianist Mike Garson will be performing at the Old Baptist
Foundation this Friday. Garson began to play the piano at 7 years old
and by age 14 was creatively replaying Mozart. The core of his success
began in 1972 when he was hired to play with David Bowie on the Spiders from
Mars tour. Garson also teamed up with Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan to
co-write and compose songs for the 1999 thriller "Stigmata."
Garson's talents are featured on numerous albums, such as Nine Inch Nails'
"The Fragile", Seal's "Human Being" and on No Doubt's "Return of Saturn."
Garson is also a member of Free Flight, an ensemble that fuses jazz and
classical elements to create a unique sound. Free Flight has been featured
on the Tonight Show four times and played a variety of venues.
Garson will provide a night of enjoyable music both familiar and original.
He is considered to be one of the best composers in innovative piano music
of his time.
Come out and listen to Garson with a valentine or a friend. Show begins at
7:30 and admission is $5 at the door.
