From the very beginning, Boulder's "Reaped in Half," which is available on Tee Pee Records, screams with the intensity of AC/DC and blasts away the listener with the bass-powered rumble of Black Sabbath.
This is no surprise coming from a band that has been known to blow one circuit breaker after another in venues across the United States. It has even been noted that on several occasions, the band was drawing enough wattage in its amplifiers that the plastic coating on the extension chords began to melt.
The first song off "Reaped in Half' is called "Krank it Up." As one might have guessed, the song is all about cranking up the volume. Be advised, however, that doing this can cause serious damage to one's stereo and hearing.
The next two songs go by rather fast, almost too fast for proper heavy metal digestion. The last song off of the first side, or "Act I," is titled "Ripe and Innocent." One can only imagine what is being referenced in this song.
The second side of the album starts off with the tune "Arrest Me." By now, the theme of clever song titles that describe what each song is about has been established. The song, "Should've Seen Blood" conjures up images of a raucous mosh pit at a rock show. "Yellow Fever" opens with an incredibly shredding guitar riff, which really helps deliver 'Reaped in Half' to a finish that leaves the listener wanting to hear more.
In this case, those parties interested will get such a chance.
Boulder will be performing at 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug 3, at Boo Jr. and Co. with Hateful Dead. For more information on Boulder, go to http://www.bouldersragers.com
