Little Stuart captures the hearts of the audience once again in Stuart Little 2. Every sullen sigh released by the cutest mouse in show business is matched by a sympathetic sigh from the theater crowd.
Michael J. Fox (Back To The Future, For Love or Money) stars as the voice for Stuart, the smallest of the Little family. Fox has the perfect voice to fit the over eager character created by E.B. White. Nathan Lane (Bird Cage) gives voice to Snowbell, is the cat who brings a cynical humor to the film that leaves the air filled with laughter throughout the film.
Jonathan Lipnicki (Jerry MaGuire) plays Stuart's older brother, alongside Geena Davis (Thelma and Louise) who stars as Stuart's overprotective mother.
Director Rob Minkoff takes Douglas Wick's story and once again gives you a view of the world from the ground up, taking the audience on another adventure with the furry, pink-tailed Stuart. The tiny, talking mouse finds himself once more dealing with the woes of being adopted into a family with obvious differences.
Stuart finds himself lonely again, trying to fit into a society that just isn't his size. He just wants to be like everyone else and do everyday things that big people take for granted.
Things look up for Stuart when he discovers a new friend, a little bird named Margalo (Melanie Griffith). The two become instant friends but things take a bad turn when Margalo disappears. Fearing that the sinister Falcon (James Woods) has harmed her, Stuart sets out on a rescue mission with Snowbell to save the little bird.
The uncommon hero spends the rest of the film proving that size doesn't really matter. Plenty of excitement and twists follow, giving the viewer plenty of visual stimulation to go with their bag of popcorn.
The little mouse with a big heart pulls you in with his curious naivety. His angelic innocence never grows old, and the perfect family environment displayed by the Little family is a welcome change from the dysfunctional big screen families that have become the norm.
Stuart Little 2 guarantees lots of laughs for all, and some fun and fantasy that reminds us all how big the world is, and how little we really are.
