SIUE student charged with looking at child porn

A former SIU-Edwardsville student has been charged with accessing photographs of children performing sexual acts at one of the University's buildings.

James Whitehead, 18, was officially charged July 3 in Madison County. He is accused of accessing pornographic websites depicting children at SIUE's Woodland Hall on April 17 and 19.

An Illinois Attorney General child porn task force zeroed in on Whitehead shortly after he accessed the photographs. University officials at SIUE said Whitehead's actions could be a major infraction of the Student Conduct Code.
