Rock the vote

Jane Huh

The Undergraduate Student Government elections, beginning Tuesday, are expected to draw more voters than usual thanks to the addition of an extra day and an extra polling place located at Morris Library.

After Tuesday's election hours, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., the ballots will be secured in an undisclosed location overnight with the surveillance of the SIUC Police Department, said Bob Piet, USG election commissioner. Chris Loker, another election commissioner, will be the only individual with the key to the ballots. Throughout the elections, the election commission, which includes, Piet, Loker and Matt Schilling, will monitor all six polling places to look for voting fraud or other related corruption.

The ballot boxes will be placed at their respective polling locations Wednesday at 8 a.m. and remain open to all students until 6 p.m. The counting begins after the ballots are collected, and Loker said the election results will be announced around 8:30 p.m.
