Support for multiculturalism deserves more than just lip service

Dear Editor:

It seems that lately a lot of people are talking about including diversity on their agendas, but very few are actually backing it up. As a founding member of a multicultural sorority that has made great efforts to increase diversity awareness, I feel most people are just talking. The recent debates that perpetuate conflict between greeks and non-greeks have become ridiculous. Everyone keeps talking about their views on multicultural awareness, but most of you just use that as an issue for the press.

But I challenge you or your organizations to act on your words. Plan, attend and support multicultural events that benefit the campus as a whole. Show you are interested in being about it, not just talking about it. Start by supporting our efforts. Delta Xi Phi's Multicultural Performing Arts Showcase will take place at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 14, in the Student Center Auditorium. Will you be there? Or will you just keep talking about multiculturalism?
