Saluki Spirit lives on

Dear Editor:

I wanted to extend my congratulations and express appreciation to Southern Illinois University, Athletic Director Paul Kowalczyk, Coach Bruce Weber, his staff and the SIU men's Saluki basketball team for the Magical March and Dream Season. I am extremely proud of the Southern Illinois Salukis.

I am proud of the manner in which they set a goal, designed a specific plan to achieve their goal, passionately executed their plan with dogged determination, but managed to have fun along the way to spectacularly sweet success. They showed the nation what Saluki Spirit means. They earned the respect and admiration of many new fans along the way. My 6-year-old son (now a rabid Saluki fan) and I were fortunate enough to attend the NCAA tournament in Chicago. The Salukis gave this alumnus and his son a special memory to share forever. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts (and the top of our lungs). Go Salukis!
