Deren, Finch named Scholar-Athletes of the Week
Brody Deren and Dayna Finch of Creighton were selected the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the period of Nov. 24-30, Commissioner Doug Elgin announced Monday.
Deren, a senior from Harlan, Iowa, had 18 points and eight rebounds in 24 minutes in an 83-63 victory over St. Bonaventure on Nov. 29. He carries a cumulative 3.642 grade-point average in exercise science.
Finch, a senior from Smith Center, Kan., earned all-tournament team honors, as Creighton went 1-1 at the Duke Women's Basketball Classic Nov. 29-30. Finch, who has a 3.56 cumulative grade-point average in psychology, averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game in contests versus No. 25 Auburn and Stephen F. Austin.
