Kill named Gateway Coach of the Year

SIU head coach Jerry Kill, who led the Salukis to a 10-1 record and the school's first ever Gateway Conference title in just his third season, was awarded with the Bruce Craddock award for Gateway Coach of the Year Wednesday.

After losing its top two scorers, the ability to score in the clutch was a major question mark for the SIU men's basketball team. Late-game scoring proved to be no problem for the Salukis in a season-opening 67-62 win over Wyoming Saturday night in Laramie, Wyo.
