Dunbar and Beitler lead SIU women's track and field

SIU women's track and field standout Noa Beitler made a strong case for retaining the Missouri Valley Conference athlete of the week after she won the mile run in a time of 5 minutes and 1.59 seconds at the Indiana Invitational.

Senior Korto Dunbar took first in the 60-meter dash, crossing the tape in 8.60 seconds in the finals. In the prelims, Dunbar recorded her fastest time of the year (8.54).

The Salukis return to the track this Friday when they host the USA Track and Field Open at the Recreational Center. The events begin at 5 p .m.
